Day 1  Boten to Puer (276km highway)

Border crossing from Boten to Mohan. Arrive at Chinese border before 10:00 china time. Finish customs declaration. Lunch in Mohan. 14:00 get bike number plates, ride to Puer, arrive at hotel 18:00.

Day 2  Puer to Dali  (438km highway)

Take a new highway to Dali, arrive 16:30 in Dali old city. Visit old city( Alt. 1900m)

Day 3  Dali to Shangri_la (310km national road)

Ride pass three pagodas, erhai lake, then to Shangri_la (alt. 3300m)

Day 4  Shangri_la to Yading (236km country road)

Nice day riding through the gorge to Yading Nature Reserve. Highest pass at 4500m, beautiful pastures with tibetan houses. (3800m)

Day 5  Visit Yading (3800/4200m)

Take bus and electric cart to Nature reserve, hike in the park or horse back riding. View of three holy mountains, and lake. Overnight in Yading.

Day 6  Yading to Lugu Lake  (248km, country road)

Very long day riding through the nature reserve, possible lands slides and rough roads. Very curvy mountain roads through forest. Possible with a stop at a alpine lake. Overnight again in Lugu Lake (3300m)

Day 8  Lijiang Day Tour

Ride to Jade Dragon Mountain Park, optional able car ride up to 4600 glacier on Jade Dragon Mountain. ( need to book tickets for cable car one week before) 320 yuan, Lijiang world heritage town in the afternoon.

Day 9  Lijiang to kunming (477km)

Highway to Kunming. Overnight in Kunming.

Day 10  Kunming to Jinghong (510km)

Highway to Jing Hong city, capital city of Xishuangbanna.

Day 11  Jing Hong to Boten (180km)

Ride to Border-out to Laos.

Best Months: April to May, September to November

We loved this journey to China, good roads and beautiful scenery,suitable for Harley Davidson riders.

Our guide took care of our paper works and booked the hotels  for us. We had no issues finding good Halal restaurants in all places.
